(with information from the WC2 Official Website) – July 13th, 2021.

Projects with the participation of USP Members have been chosen as the winners of the Transport Theme and the Business Theme for the WC2 Challenge 2020. For the Transport Theme, the USP researcher winner was Guilherme Fernandes Alves and, for the Business Theme, the winners were Edvaldo Pereira Santos (FEA/RP, Economics), Livia Kaneko (Poli/Chemistry) and Gabriela Rodrigues (Psichology), mentored by Professor Adriana Marotti de Mello.

As the winning teams for the specific Themes, the participants were invited to present a short overview of the projects at the 2021 WC2 Symposium.

USP has another important project of the Transport Theme, leads by USP researchers André Devay, Carolina Almeida Novais, Felipe Giacomin Gripa and Márcio Antonio Lino Júnior (access the Project official website here), who were invited to attend the symposium.

The World Cities World Class University (WC2) Symposium is an annual event that allows WC2 scholars and researchers, as well as students, to connect and share their research on the challenges and opportunities facing urban areas. It is a wonderful opportunity for the group to not only showcase the amazing work they did, but to also further build their international network and develop important skills, like communication. You can learn more about previous WC2 symposiums on the WC2 University Network website.

By providing a forum for scholars and practitioners from a range of disciplines and from across the globe, the network creates opportunities for inter-disciplinary and cross border cooperation. The network’s areas of focus are research, knowledge exchange, staff and student mobility and supporting urban policy makers in leveraging the expertise held within Universities. This year, the WC2 symposium is being hosted by RMIT university and  will be held virtually during the week of August 9th. The theme this year is the same as the 2020 Undergraduate Challenge: Imagining Urban Futures in a Post-COVID World.  The symposium will have a combination of synchronous and asynchronous activities. WC2 University Network has decided to issue formal participation certificates to all students who participated in the Challenge this year.
