UNIVERSITY OF SÃO PAULO - BRAZIL

Belgian Economic Mission, led by Princess Astrid of Belgium, visits Brazil at the end of November

In 2014, USP and ULB entered into a strategic partnership agreement, facilitating greater access to funding for joint research teams from both institutions to collaborate and undertake reciprocal visits. This agreement was renewed for a five-year period in 2019 and is now up for renewal again this year.

An official mission to Brazil, led by Princess Astrid of Belgium, will take place from November 25th to 29th. The Princess will be accompanied by a substantial delegation of Belgian companies looking to explore new business opportunities with Brazilian counterparts. Additionally, a delegation of academics representing Belgian universities with established ties to Brazil’s higher education and research sectors will also participate.

A Belgian economic mission is highly relevant to the University of São Paulo (USP) for several reasons:

  1. Academic and Research Partnerships: It can open doors for collaboration between USP and Belgian institutions, promoting joint research and academic exchange.
  2. Innovation and Technology Transfer: Partnerships with Belgian companies could enhance USP’s innovation programs, especially in technology-driven fields like biotech and renewable energy.
  3. Internationalization: This visit boosts USP’s global visibility, attracting international students and fostering participation in global academic networks.
  4. Access to Investment: The mission can lead to new research funding and collaborations with investors interested in supporting USP’s initiatives.

This mission presents a key opportunity for USP to expand international partnerships and strengthen its role as an innovation hub.
