Institute Overview
The Institute of Mathematics and Statistics [Instituto de Matemática e Estatística] (IME) aims to provide teaching, conduct research, and carry out outreach activities with standards of international excellence. IME trains highly qualified scientific professionals in Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, and Mathematics Education, with the potential to develop and implement innovative ideas that advance their fields and benefit society. Additionally, IME is committed to disseminating knowledge, values, and critical thinking. IME is located on the São Paulo Campus, in the University City [Cidade Universitária] (Butantã district), west side of the city of São Paulo.
The Institute of Mathematics and Statistics (IME) is composed of four departments (name and code):
- Department of Applied Mathematics (MAP)
- Department of Computer Science (MAC)
- Department of Mathematics (MAT)
- Department of Statistics (MAE)
