Institute Overview
The Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences’ [Instituto de Astronomia, Geofísica e Ciências Atmosféricas] (IAG) mission is to contribute to the country’s development by promoting teaching, research, and the dissemination of knowledge about the sciences of the Earth and the Universe, aspiring to recognition and leadership for the quality of the professionals trained and the impact of their scientific and academic work. IAG is located on the São Paulo Campus, in the University City [Cidade Universitária] (Butantã district), west side of the city of São Paulo.
The Institute of Astronomy, Geophysics and Atmospheric Sciences (IAG) is composed of three departments (name and code):
- Department of Astronomy (AGA)
- Department of Atmospheric Sciences (ACA)
- Department of Geophysics (AGG)
